RAYMOND M. GRAY
4 JAUNARY 1943-10 MARCH 2005
Ray Gray was my friend. We were both at khe Sanh at the same time. I was on the combat base in communications. Ray was in the village of Khe Sanh with CAC Oscar-1. I contacted Ray a few years ago while I was searching for Marines that served with Sub Unit 5 at Khe Sanh. I visited Ray and Sylvia in California last summer. Ray was not in good health but he never complained. Today I received the email I had dreaded for so long.
Ray arrived in Vietnam in 1966 and returned to serve a second tour. Here are a few pictures of the khe Sanh village area.

Ray was an 0311 and is shown here with a machine gun in a CAC bunker.
Sylvia Gray, the love of Ray's life for 27 years.

Myself and Ray in May of 2004 in Ray's back yard, Anitoch, California.
Ray gets ready to take my picture. I beat him to it.

Ray's boat SEMPER FI. Ray would tell me stories of fishing in San Francisco Bay. He once told me of a sturgeon that he hooked that was longer than the boat was wide. He was by himself and unable to land it.
I will miss Ray. As will all who knew him. He was a good man. He is no longer suffering. Rest in peace my friend. Goodbye my brother.
